Hello Swimming and Diving Family and Friends!
We wanted to introduce you to our first online auction, the Polar Bear Palooza. The booster club decided to host the auction to replace the lost fundraising opportunities due to COVID-19. Our biggest fundraiser of the year is the Track Concession Stand. We missed this in Spring 2020 and might miss it in Spring 2021. The auction will be held online 02/01/2021 through 02/05/2021. More details about the auction website and bidding process will be provided at a later date. We are asking each athlete to obtain an in-kind donation, gift cards, or services for the auction. Please reach out to family, friends, neighbors, employers, and even businesses you frequent or know. You are not required to provide a full basket for the auction. We will combine items, if needed, after all items have been donated to create specific baskets. For example, someone has donated a box of dryer sheets and in-wash scent boosters. We could pair that with a laundry basket, towels, or other items as a college basket. Remember, there are no specified or required donation items, we will accept whatever you are able to donate and we will then base our baskets on the items we receive.
We have created a Signup Genius to track all of the donations (link left or see below). We ask that you provide the item description and value under my comments. Please list the company name in the slot provided. We hope that the Signup Genius will allow everyone to see what businesses have been contacted and donated. We have already received several items and I have placed them on the sign up already, to serve as an example.
There are several documents attached for your convenience (they will be posted on our website as well). Please provide the Donation Request, Donation Form and IRS .pdf documents to people and businesses you request donations from. The Donation Request Letter provides an explanation of why we are asking for donations. The Donation Form may be emailed to Robyn. The IRS Determination Letter is verification that the booster club is a non-profit organization under IRC 501(c)(3).
If you have unopened items at your house that you have not used or gift cards lying around, please consider donating them to the auction. If you receive a gift for the holidays and were going to re-gift it, please consider donating it instead.
The final attachment is a list of businesses already contacted.
